Scented candles, soft music, love-notes and lace,
danced through my memory while cleaning the place.
I went for a dish rag and opened the drawer,
But what I discovered was worth alot more!
Most wipe their hands on the hanging towel fine... but No! He leaves me valentines all of the time!
He opens the drawer and wipes his hands clean,
then leaves the cloth in the drawer quite unseen!
Milk caps are left off (after direct swigs I suppose!),
He leaves socks on the floor, (and o-t-h-e-r clothes),
He rarely shuts a cupboard door...
but today... I understood why for!
He's leaving Valentine moments that say:
I love being home! I'm here to stay!
Unconscious love-notes. of that there's no doubt,
if his mind wasn't so busy, he'd not leave things out!
But for some reason lately, (crazy I know... )
these endearing memories settle and grow.
He is funny, charming, sweet, and alarming!
What can I say?
I love his bounce-walk,
his blue eyes,his 'way'...
While I adore candles, romance, soft music to dine,
that crumpled dishrag sang: Will You Be Mine?!

Dad is one lucky fella. Not many women could look at a used dish rag and find it romantic! Love your poem! :) I also love the guy it's written about!
Elisa, You are funny!
I must say when I was younger...It wouldn't have been the same. I would have handed him the rag with a vacuum, snow shovel, iron, and broom or given him time out in his very own room! ;) (just kidding!)
There is something about watching your best friend get a few gray hairs that makes you look back over life (the good, bad, happy, sad), and think: 'He is my very best friend!' And you realize what romance and love are really about. Love You!
Roses are red violets are blue...
If this is what love is...
then I'm in love too!
Love,

The keeper of the flame!
P.S. I will buy, make or steal you a new wreath!
I love you!
Don't tell me...my wreath is outdated right?! Oh, I just knew there had to be one little area where I am not the fashion plate of the century! I am stunned with you with that tidbit of info. ;)
I need to trade my wreath for Hilarys...did you see her valentine wreath? It is soooo cute!

I love this post. It is so true. What a great way to look at the world. Sometimes when Monte gets home I tell him I thought about him all day long, because he left little reminders of himself all over the house.
Nice cookies!
I love you!
