Harvest

I love the, cozy warm and crispy cool, colors of Fall. The sound of jar seals snapping, and the taste of garden straight from the vine. I love football and firewood in stacks. The smell of simmering stew and homemade bread. I love new crayon boxes lining store isles and bright back-packs with polka dots. The start of schedules, fresh ideas, and earlier wrap-up and read nights. The tickle-hint that life may slow a bit from all the fun of crazy-busy summer.

And at this pause,

looking around...I realize that my best friend has a few more gray hairs this fall than last... but he still has the same bounce-walk and smile.

I must memorize the moments, quiet them, stretch them, laugh, and make them last longer, because it is fall...after-all.

I took these three photos just outside our back door and you can see that we need at least 2 more good weeks for my tomatoes to thrive!
Next year, I think I will start the seeds in January. That might give them enough time to shine! ;)

Looks like they are finally turning red... hurray!!! :) We'll probably have lots to eat at the reunion... that is, if the plants don't die in the snow by then. :)
